With this project, our class was given the assignment to create a unique take on the new beer line for Catawba farms. For the brand, we were able to create a unique style that could both stand out on its own and represent the pride that Catawba Farm has. The groups were given a free range of design for the logos, any types of mascots, collateral, beer pull, and keg collars. While designing the original labels for the beer cans, our group wanted to maintain the focus as well as to pay homage, to the stories that were established for the beers, a unique twist was needed to make the brand stand out. The characters are the primary focal point for the logos of the cans, I created patterns in the background to establish a visual movement for the eyes of the consumers to follow across the can, so they could be led to the information about the specific beer’s flavor, government information, and the location of where the beer was made. For the specific beer “Turn About Stout,” we had to brainstorm further to figure out how we could stand out against our competition in the classroom. I did research for the Greek comedy and tragedy masks so that while we could also stand out against the competition, the emotions that were talked about in the stories would be easier to convey and understood by the consumers. Regarding the design of the beer pull, everyone in the group voted, and we decided that my design would be the best to go with the brand that we designed. Furthermore, when designing our keg collar, we decided to go with one design for cost efficiency, so an additional pattern had to be designed to represent all of the flavors.
